Montessori Nevada's primary goal is to improve access to high fidelity Montessori education for all Nevada students. We recognize that while Montessori's origins were humble, the practice of Montessori schools in the United States today is costly- especially for families. Part of our work is to ensure Montessori schools can function with flexible oversight and regulations that support authentic Montessori practices. This goal is at times in opposition to state education standards which currently are built around and favor traditional educational models. As an advocacy organization, Montessori Nevada strives to communicate the needs of private, public, and charter Montessori schools to state lawmakers.
Our Future…
At Montessori Nevada our goals are your goals. We serve as a unifying force for schools, families, teachers, students, and other individuals and organizations in our state. We include institutions from all Montessori organizations and accrediting agencies, and seek a diverse landscape of Montessori schools.
Our relationships should not stop there, however. We believe trust and collaboration are essential to the longevity of a Montessori educational community in the State of Nevada. Strong, durable, and cohesive relationships with State policy making agencies are critical to sustaining Montessori education. This is why we also act as an educational institution- facilitating meetings and opportunities for growth- as well as an intermediary between state officials and local Montessori institutions. Our unified voice and presence will equip us to cope with legislative challenges, and allow us grow the Montessori Nevada community.
